"Skip on my next visit" from home page not working

I've set my privacy/security settings so that ItalianPod101 and SpanishPod101 can put cookies on my computer, so now the site remembers me when I visit -- excellent!

But the checkbox on the home page (for both sites) to "Skip on my next visit" (such that the user gets redirected directly to www.xxx/index.php) doesn't seem to work.
