POST CONVERSATION BANTER
Cinzia: Marco, we already had a conversation about New Year's buoni propositi, didn't we?
Marco: Yes, but we didn't ask our listeners about them?
Cinzia: Oh yes, it's true! So listeners, have you already started thinking about New Year's resolution?
Marco: Or are you just planning a Christmas holiday to spend abroad?
Cinzia: Oh yeah!! I know! I know! Our listener's best resolution for 2009 is to visit Italy after having studied with us!
Marco: That's a nice resolution! But let's jump into the vocabulary now!

Marco: Now, this is a very interesting word, right? Because it is a false friend.
Cinzia: Yes, Marco, you’re right. But don’t forget to mention that its English translation is a false friend.
Marco: True.
Cinzia: Because we say “parents” to translate genitori. But in Italian, we have another word, parenti, to say...
Marco: “relatives”.

Lesson focus

Marco: As we mentioned in the previous class, the Futuro Semplice (Simple Future) tense is realized by dropping the ending vowel from the infinitive, and adding the appropriate endings.
Cinzia: Different from first conjugation, second conjugation regular verbs do not change their last syllable vowel, which stays -e-.
Marco: The necessary steps to inflect second conjugation verbs are the following
Cinzia: 1st- take the infinitive of the verb
Marco: 2nd- drop the final vowel
Cinzia: 3rd- add the appropriate endings. That’s easy.
Cinzia: It is easy. And now let's take a look at the verb accendere “to switch on, to turn on”
Io accender-ò “I will switch on”
Tu accendera-i “You will switch on”
Lui/Lei accender-à “He/She/It will switch on”
Noi accender-emo “We will switch on”
Voi accender-ete “You will switch on”
Loro accender-anno “They will switch on”

Outro

Marco: That just about does it for today.
Marco: Before we go, we want to tell you about a way to drastically improve your pronunciation.
Cinzia: The voice recording tool...
Marco: Yes, the voice recording tool in the premium learning center...
Cinzia: Record your voice with a click of a button,
Marco: and then play it back just as easily.
Cinzia: So you record your voice, and then listen to it.
Marco: Compare it to the native speakers...
Cinzia: And adjust your pronunciation!
Marco: This will help you improve your pronunciation fast!
Marco: Ciao!
Cinzia: Grazie! Ciao a tutti!
