Consuelo: Buongiorno a tutti.
Marco: Marco here. Lower intermediate series, season 2, Lesson 17. Before You Go To Italy, Be Sure To Study This Lesson. Hello and welcome to the lower intermediate series, season 2 at italianpod101.com where we study modern Italian in a fun, educational format.
Consuelo: So brush up on the Italian that you started learning long ago or start learning today.
Marco: Thanks for being here with us for this lesson. Consuelo, what are we looking at in this lesson?
Consuelo: In today’s class, we will continue studying the Italian subjunctive mood and the present subjunctive conjugation of the irregular verb Andare, to go.
Marco: This conversation takes place at the coffee shop.
Consuelo: The conversation is between Mario and his customers.
Marco: The speakers are not friends. Therefore they will be speaking formally. Now before we listen to the conversation

Mark: Lo Zodiaco…cos'è?
Mario: È un osservatorio astronomico su Monte Mario, famoso per un ristorante molto suggestivo.
Jessica: Wow! Allora ci dobbiamo andare!
Mario: La maggior parte delle persone va lì non tanto perché il cibo sia buono, ma perché la vista di Roma è incredibile.
Mark: Grazie mille per i tuoi consigli Mario. Ora però dobbiamo tornare in albergo prima che faccia buio.
Mario: Prima che ve ne andiate, prendete un'altra fetta di torta, offre la casa.

Marco: Consuelo, could you tell us something more about the Zodiaco?
Consuelo: Oh yes. It’s a famous part in Rome.
Marco: What does the name actually mean?
Consuelo: It means the Zodiac because at night from that spot, you can see all the constellations in the sky.
Marco: And do Romans go there often?
Consuelo: Yes, especially for Valentine’s Day. In fact near the observatory, there is a restaurant with the most astonishing view of The Eternal City. You can take a walk on the local street while eating your Gelato there.

Marco: You mean drinks, meals right?
Consuelo: Yes in English, we say it’s on me right?
Marco: Oh yes.
Consuelo: In Italian, we must use the verb offrire.
Marco: To offer.
Consuelo: The equivalent for the English it’s on me will be offro io.

Consuelo: We will analyze other uses and in addition, we will see the present subjunctive conjugation of the regular verb andare
Marco: To go. The following conjunctions are followed by verbs conjugated in the subjunctive mood.
Consuelo: After perché when it conveys a false cause. For example: Ferruccio parlava con me non perché fosse annoiato,
Marco: False cause
Consuelo: Ma perché era gentile.
Marco: True cause. Ferruccio talked to me not because he was bored but because he was kind.
Consuelo: Guardavo il documentario non perché fosse interessante,
Marco: False cause
Consuelo: ma perché non avevo niente di meglio da fare.
Marco: True cause. I was watching a documentary not because it was interesting but because I didn’t have anything better to do.
Consuelo: Vado al parco non perché sia caldo,
Marco: False cause.
Consuelo: Ma perché ho voglia di prendere il sole.
Marco: True cause. I go to the park not because it’s warm but because I want a tan. We also use verbs conjugated in the subjunctive mood after prima che. For instance
