INTRODUCTION
Cinzia: Buongiorno a tutti. Hello, this is Cinzia.
Marco: Marco here, and welcome to part three of our Introduction Series at ItalianPod101.com, the fastest, easiest and most fun way to learn Italian.
Cinzia: In the previous lesson, we covered self-introductions and introduced you to several powerful tools to help you perfect your pronunciation and get you speaking right away.
Marco: In this lesson, we’re going to introduce several more powerful tools that will speed up the learning process for you and make things stick.
Cinzia: With this lesson and the new tools we cover, we’re going to show you how to rapidly master and retain vocabulary and key phrases.
Marco: A rich vocabulary is one of the keys to fluency. And we’ve developed a powerful system to make this process fast and fun. It starts with the breakdown approach used in the audio lessons and continues with the following tools developed specifically by our team of linguists and technicians to help you learn vocabulary fast.
Cinzia: So, as you already know, first we introduce and breakdown the vocabulary in the audio lesson to make sure you can understand it and say it. Next, see the vocabulary and key phrases in the lesson notes.
Marco: Now, see the words and hear the pronunciation in the same location. On the site, we have a vocabulary list for each lesson that includes the audio file so you can hear while you see each word. Hear the word again and again while seeing the definition.
Cinzia: We also have a solution for difficult words.
Marco: That’s right. You can save any word to your own Word Bank which lets you see and hear it any time.
Cinzia: Remember, the audio lesson you’re about to hear is one part of our system. After listening to this audio lesson…
Marco: Visit the site ItalianPod101.com and sign up for your free lifetime account. Next, experience the power of the tools designed for you to rapidly master vocabulary and key phrases effortlessly while having fun.
Cinzia: Use the Vocabulary List, your own Word Bank and the Video Vocabulary to master the vocabulary.
Marco: By mastering the vocabulary each lesson, you’ll be able to engage in conversations fast. We’ve made a system that allows you, the listener, to master Italian in the fastest and easiest way possible.
Cinzia: Now, as you know, each lesson is based around the practical dialogue. So, in this lesson we’ll be looking at…
Marco: A dialogue between two people saying goodbye.
Cinzia: This conversation takes place at an airport between two friends.
Marco: All right, let’s listen to the conversation.
Cinzia: We’re going to listen three times. The first time at natural native speed…
Marco: So you can get used to the Italian used in the real world.
Cinzia: The second time nice and slow, so you can follow and pick up the words and pronunciation.
Marco: And the third time with the translation, so that you can fully grasp and understand the conversation.
Cinzia: Okay, so let’s listen in.
Marco: Sure, let’s do it.
DIALOGUE
Arrivederci! A presto.
Ciao! Buon viaggio!
POST CONVERSATION BANTER
Cinzia: This conversation is a really useful conversation. It’s simple but very common.
Marco: Yes, it can be used whenever you’re saying goodbye to a friend who is about to travel
Cinzia: But the interesting thing is that there’s two goodbyes in there. One is formal and one is informal, so we have the best of both worlds.
Marco: We certainly do. Okay, let’s take a look at the vocabulary and key phrases for this lesson.
VOCAB LIST
Cinzia: First I’ll give you the word natural native speed.
Marco: Then I’ll give you the English.
Cinzia: Then I’ll break down the word by syllable.
Marco: So you can catch everything.
Cinzia: And say it right away. Then I’ll give you the word one more time, native speed.
Marco: Ready?
Cinzia: Yes.
Marco: First word…
Cinzia: “Arrivederci”.
Marco: Goodbye.
Cinzia: “Arrivederci. Arrivederci”.
Marco: It’s perfect to use as a farewell. This is the polite form, right?
Cinzia: Yes, it is, but we use with friends as well. Although it does signify a choice to keep some distance between people.
Marco: How about the informal one?
Cinzia: “Ciao”.
Marco: Bye.
Cinzia: “Ciao”. This one is really casual, so you may use it with family and friends.
Marco: Yes. Let’s go over the pronunciation of the two goodbyes really quickly. What ‘s the one you use when you’re talking to a person you don’t know or maybe want to keep a little distance?
Cinzia: “Arrivederci”.
Marco: What’s the one you use with people you know well?
Cinzia: “Ciao”.
Marco: And what do we have that can be used when we’ll see people soon?
Cinzia: “A presto”.
Marco: “See you soon.” And can you help with our listening?
Cinzia: “A presto”.
Marco: “See you soon.” Is this also formal?
Cinzia: You can actually use it in both formal and informal situations.

Outro

Marco: Thanks, Cinzia. A great way to really practice these words is to review the phrases with the Line by Line Audio Tool.
Cinzia: And you will perfect your pronunciation.
Marco: Then grab the Review Track so you can keep the phrase fresh in your mind while listening anywhere, anytime.
Cinzia: Once you think you’ve mastered the phrase or got the hang of it…
Marco: Finally, test yourself with the flashcards to make sure you got it. Quizzing yourself is one of the most well-known ways to make things stick.
Cinzia: There we have questions focusing on grammar and vocabulary so you can reinforce everything in the lesson quickly and easily.
Marco: All right, so, Cinzia, is there anything else we have to say?
Cinzia: Well, all the words will also appear in the Lesson Notes, Vocabulary List, Video Vocabulary and the Review Track.
Marco: Visit ItalianPod101.com and see how easy it is to master words when you see and hear them in our system. Hear them in audio lessons, see them on the site, on your iPod and in your lesson notes.
Cinzia: Then see and hear them on the Vocabulary List.
Marco: Finally, take them with you in video and audio format with Video Vocabulary and the Review Track.
Cinzia: The same Review Track mentioned before, right?
Marco: Yes. This audio file is really useful. With our system, we make learning a new language fun and easy.
