Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you good at?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about what you’re good at doing.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
In che cosa se la cava bene?
Me la cavo bene con le lingue.
Once more with the English translation.
In che cosa se la cava bene?
“What are you good at?”
Me la cavo bene con le lingue.
“I'm good at languages.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you good at?”
That's: In che cosa se la cava bene?
Listen to it again: In che cosa se la cava bene?, In che cosa se la cava bene?
This Italian sentence literally translates as “In what do you get out yourself good?” But it means “What are you good at?”.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Me la cavo bene con [skill].
This Italian sentence literally translates as “I get out my self good with [skill].” But it means “I'm good at [skill].”
For example:
“I'm good at languages.”
Me la cavo bene con le lingue., Me la cavo bene con le lingue.
