Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing during the holiday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about your holiday plans.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Cosa farai a Pasqua?
Sto pensando di andare in spiaggia.
Once more with the English translation.
Cosa farai a Pasqua?
“What are you doing for Easter?”
Sto pensando di andare in spiaggia.
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “How's your mother?”
That's: Cosa farai a Pasqua?
Listen to it again: Cosa farai a Pasqua?, Cosa farai a Pasqua?
This Italian sentence literally translates as “What will you do at Easter?” But it means “What are you doing for Easter?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Sto pensando di [plan].
This Italian sentence literally translates as “I stay thinking of [plan].” But it means “I’m planning to [plan].”
For example:
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
Sto pensando di andare in spiaggia., Sto pensando di andare in spiaggia.
