Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to ask and answer the question, "How do you say this?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask someone how a word is pronounced.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Come si dice questo?
Si dice "parcheggio."
Once more with the English translation.
Come si dice questo?
“How do you say this?”
Si dice "parcheggio."
"It's 'parking lot.'”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “How do you say this?”
That's: Come si dice questo?
Listen to it again: Come si dice questo?, Come si dice questo?
“How do you say this?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Si dice [ ].
This Italian sentence literally translates into " It is said [word]. ” But it means “It's (word).”
For example:
"It's 'parking lot.'”
Si dice "parcheggio.", Si dice "parcheggio."
