Hi NJ Marinaro,

If the phrases is not in the vocabulary list of the lesson, I'd suggest to use the "Custom Lists" (http://customlists.innovativelanguage.com/) where you can create your own lists.

I hope this helps!

In one lesson ,Marco and Cinzia were asking the listeners/students if they played a musical instrument.

Lo voglio. Suono il violoncello. Ho studiato alla Juilliard School di New York. Mi piacerebbe una foto di Marco e Cinzia, autografata naturalmente. Adoro ascoltare i discorsi tra voi due. E, la risata di Cinzia, assolutamente contagiosa!

Hi Lana,

Thank you for posting.

"La mia sorella minore, Jennifer, e il mio fratello maggiore, Mike." is not wrong, as the nouns are modified by adjectives ("minore" and "maggiore").

Many native speakers might prefer saying "Mia sorella minore, Jennifer, e mio fratello maggiore, Mike."

In the case there isn't any adjective, then we can't include the article, so it should be: "Mia sorella, Jennifer, e mio fratello, Mike."

I hope this helps!

Thank you,

Ofelia

This is really confusing!

Your grammar says:

"Remember that the definite article (il or la) usually precedes the singular possessive adjectives except for a few cases such as family members. Therefore, "my brother" in Italian, is mio fratello, whereas "my bag" is la mia borsa."

Dialog says:

"La mia sorella minore, Jennifer, e il mio fratello maggiore, Mike."

Why the native speaker uses articles for his sister and brother?
