pure / mica

Postby john291thomson3046 » September 1st, 2013 12:14 pm

In my opinion one of the main uses of 'pure' is to soften a command to be more a request
entra - come in
entra pure - please do come in
mi dica? - may I help you?
mi dica pure? - please, how may I help you?

I know that 'mica' has something to do with negation but I do not know how to use it

any help would be appreciated

Hi john291thomson3046,

Thank you for the question.
Yes, we can say that "pure" softens a command, or also that makes an invitation warmer.
"Entra pure!" is something like "Feel free to get in",also "Don't be shy, get in!

"Mica" is to emphasize a negation and it means "at all".
So,"non mi piace mica!" means "I don't like it at all!"

I hope it is clearer now, but if you have other questions, please ask!
Chiedi pure! non essere mica timido!

Ciao e a presto!
