PATTERN
Asia: For example,
Asia: "My favorite color is red."
Daniele: Il mio colore preferito è il rosso.
Daniele: [slow] Il mio colore preferito è il rosso.
Asia: The pattern for talking about what you like the most has 4 elements. First, a noun phrase, in this case "my color." Note that it includes the possessive adjective “my”.
Daniele: il mio colore.
Asia: Second, meaning "favorite."
Daniele: preferito.
Asia: Third, the verb "to be", conjugated in the third person singular.
Daniele: è.
Asia: And last, a noun or noun phrase, in this case "red."
Daniele: il rosso.
Asia: Altogether, we have.. "My favorite color is red."
Daniele: Il mio colore preferito è il rosso. [slow] Il mio colore preferito è il rosso. [normal] Il mio colore preferito è il rosso.
Asia: When you talk about what you like the most, add the adjective...
Daniele: preferito
Asia: meaning “favorite" after the noun it refers to. The adjective
Daniele: preferito
Asia: matches with a masculine, singular noun. The feminine form is
Daniele: preferita
Asia: and it matches with a feminine, singular noun.
Daniele: Il mio colore preferito è il rosso.
Asia: So remember to add the adjective meaning “favorite” after the noun it refers to.
Asia: Here is another example meaning, "My favorite dish is pasta with tomato sauce." First, a noun phrase, in this case "my dish." Note that it includes the possessive adjective “my”.
Daniele: il mio piatto.
Asia: Second, meaning "favorite."
Daniele: preferito.
Asia: Third, verb "to be", conjugated in the third person singular.
Daniele: è.
Asia: And last, a noun or noun phrase, in this case "pasta with tomato sauce."
Daniele: la pasta al pomodoro..
Asia: Altogether we have..
Daniele: Il mio piatto preferito è la pasta al pomodoro. [slow] Il mio piatto preferito è la pasta al pomodoro. [normal] Il mio piatto preferito è la pasta al pomodoro.
Asia: "My favorite dish is pasta with tomato sauce."
[pause]
Daniele: Il mio piatto preferito è la pasta al pomodoro.
Asia: How do you say - "My favorite game is 'Uno'.”? To give you a hint, "game" is..
Daniele: gioco. [slow] gioco. [normal] gioco.
Asia: My favorite game is 'Uno'.
[pause]
Daniele: Il mio gioco preferito è 'Uno'. [slow] Il mio gioco preferito è 'Uno'. [normal] Il mio gioco preferito è 'Uno'.

Ciao Bill,

While "titanico" is the perfect translation of the word "titanic", the movie title has not been translated in Italy, so it is just called Titanic. 😉

Also, you can either say "quale è" or "qual è", but you don't need to add an apostrophe (because both "quale" and "qual" exist, so you're not shortening "quale", but just choosing the alternative). Fun fact: this is one of the most common mistakes among native speakers!

Other than that, great job as usual 👍

Quale è il tuo film preferito?

Il mio film preferito è il film "titanico."

Veramente? Odio "titanico". Non mi piacciono Leonardo DiCaprio e Kate Winslet.

Davvero? I miei attori preferiti sono Leonardo DiCaprio e Kate Winslet! E qual'è il tuo film preferito?

Il mio film preferito è Pinnochio.

Pinnochio? Perché Pinnochio?

Perché il mio animale preferito è lo squalo.

Veramente? Tu sei strano!
