Becky: Here's the way to say 'Hello.’ when answering the phone in Italian.
Ofelia: [Normal] Pronto.
Becky: This expression has only one word meaning 'ready'
Ofelia: [Normal] pronto [Slow] pronto
Becky: Listen again to the word meaning 'Hello. (when answering the phone)'
Ofelia: [Slow] Pronto. [Normal] Pronto.
Becky: Ok, now let's take a look at the way to say 'This is Maria.'
Ofelia: [Normal] Sono Maria.
Becky: First is a word meaning 'I am'

Becky: Last is the person's name

Ofelia: Pronto is the key word when you’re talking on the phone in Italy! If you don't hear well, and whether you are are making the call or answering the phone, by saying Pronto you will communicate to the other person that you are ready to listen.
