I will being teaching English in Italy for the summer. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for teaching children and living with Italian families.

I'm afraid I can't help you very much.
I can suggest you try to look for opportunities near resort areas as you will find more Italians interested in learning English and having their children learn too.

Another opportunity is babysitting. Some high class hotels look for babysitters for their guests' children, may they be Italian or foreigner.
