I giornali - read Italian newspapers online

Postby roma55 » April 20th, 2008 12:26 pm

Salve!

Reading the news is a great way to learn a language- especially if you sort of know what is likely to be said already.

Here is a site for anyone wanting to have a go at reaing Italian newspapers:

http://www.ipse.com/quotit.html

It shows also which paper has a site online.

A look at the major dailies:

http://www.corriere.it/ - a classic national daily (quotidiano)
http://www.repubblica.it/ - another national daily, tends to have more dramatic healines and copy
http://www.ilgiornale.it/ - a liberal national centre rightnewpaper daily
http://www.lastampa.it/redazione/default.asp - another classic daily

In Italy there are many regional based newspapers some of national standing- for example:

Rome based: http://www.ilmessaggero.it/
Napoli base: http://www.ilmattino.it/mattino/page_view.php
Florence based: http://lanazione.quotidiano.net/
Milan (financial): http://ilgiorno.quotidiano.net/

There are also the specialist:

Sport-mad!
www.gazzetta.it/

Some newspapers are affiliated to specific parties and have a long tradition, for example:
http://www.unita.it/ -use to be communist but now the party had somewhat disbanded it tis generally left
http://www.avanti.it/ -long tradition socialist newspaper.

I hope you will enjoy exploring these.
