----Formal ----

Paolo: Ehi Martina, devo fare una chiamata, vado nell'altra stanza.
Martina: Ok, ti aspettiamo qui.
John: Non ti preoccupare. Il capo capirà.
Martina: Oh, lo spero sinceramente!
(Paolo ritorna)
John: Allora, com'è andata? Ti lascerà venire con noi?
Paolo: Sfortunatamente, no. Ha detto che devo andare a lavorare.
Martina: Oh no, il nostro primo viaggio insieme!
John: È un peccato Paolo…ci saremmo potuti divertire insieme, mi dispiace. Sarai triste, immagino.
Paolo: Oh, non ti preoccupare, stavo solo scherzando.
John: Cosa?
Martina: Uno scherzo? Questo significa…che domani verrai con noi?
Paolo: Certo!
Martina: Evviva!
John: Sì!

----Formal English----

Paolo: Hey, Martina, I have to make a call, I'll go to the other room.
Martina: Okay, we'll wait for you here.
John: Don't worry. The boss will understand.
Martina: Oh, I really hope so!
(Paolo comes back)
John: So how did it go? Will he let you go with us?
Paolo: Sadly, no. He said I have to go to work. Tomorrow, I'll leave with the first train in the morning.
Martina: Oh no, our first trip together!
John: That's a pity Paolo…we could have had fun together, I'm sorry. You must be sad, I assume.
Paolo: Oh, don't worry, actually I was just joking.
John: What?
Martina: A joke? This means…that you're actually coming with us tomorrow?
Paolo: Sure!
Martina: Hurray!
John: Yes!

Il mercato é situato in Piazza Ghiberti e in Piazza Sant’Ambrogio e si svolge all’interno e all’esterno.

Sant’Ambrogio’s food market

Mornings in Italy must include a few things. First, there is obviously a cappuccino but after breakfast at the café one goes to a very important place – the market. The well known and delicious Italian cooking depends greatly on fresh, local and in season ingredients. Therefore Italians go almost every morning to do the daily shopping from the local farmers at the market.

I live in Florence and I have the luck of living close to the historic food market of Sant’Ambrogio. I lose myself among the colors, smells and tastes, searching for the enogastronomic traditions of Florence and its surrounding lands. The market is located in Piazza Ghiberti and Piazza Sant’Ambrogio and it is held inside and outside. For many years it has been held in a historic 18th century building constructed of masonry and cast iron. The market begins early around 7 am and ends around 2 pm. It is held everyday except Sunday. I usually get up early to arrive at the start of the market so that I don’t miss the good deals. The early bird gets the worm!

Walking around the outdoor section we find fresh fruit, vegetables, new and used clothes, flowers, shoes and many other products. Inside the building we find meats, fresh fish, pasta and good cheeses. This market includes many typical Tuscan products like truffles and porcini mushrooms. There is also the Tuscan olive oil that you must not miss. The best oil is characterized by a low acidity, hand harvesting and a cold pressing process. It has a delightful fruity taste.

Returning from the morning outing at Sant’Ambrogio market, I’ll give you one last piece of advice for those of you who are courageous! A fantastic sandwich with lampredotto at the stand in via de’ Macci. Spending little, you can enter the deepest depths of Florentine culinary culture. Yo...</itunes:summary>

You have spoken with many of the company's staff and most of the staff seems very pleased with the way they are treated. You asked each one what their jobs entailed. A secretary you spoke with replied in Italian, "Typing and reading e-mails, making phone calls, answering customers' question…you know, the usual stuff." The next person you spoke with answered in Italian, "I attend meetings all day!" But they all seem happy…and the work is getting done. Wait…who is that? You ask a man sitting at a desk drinking coffee what he does all day. He replies in Italian, "I drink my coffee." Astonished, you ask him why he doesn't do anything else. He replies in Italian, "Because I am the boss!" Well, at least you were able to work with your Italian skills for a little bit anyway.
