You are scooting around downtown Roma in your new Vespa, when you accidentally hit a police car. There is a large dent where you hit it. The policeman who was inside is obviously not pleased he exits from the driver’s side, and takes out his handcuffs. “I’m sorry!” you say. “Mi dispiace! It was an accident!” But he continues coming toward you menacingly. “Please, I’m so sorry, can you just give me a warning? I will be more careful next time.” But he is unfazed. You begin to panic, picturing yourself in an Italian jail, but suddenly you remember ItalianPod101.com’s Beginner Lesson 13. “Ti prego!” you say, tears in your eyes. The officer’s face softens. “Ok. I’ll let you off this time.” You breathe a sigh of relief. “But don’t do it again.”
In today’s Italian lesson, we’ll be learning ti prego or “pretty please”. This might be useful for requesting things in Italian. We’ll also be reviewing informal imperatives, their usage and grammar.
