You’re so tired that you’re falling asleep. Your stomach is growling at you, you haven’t eaten all day. Your throat is as dry as sandpaper. But your Italian friends don’t seem to notice; they haven’t found your hike through the hills of Tuscany tiring at all, and after a short rest, they pick up their packs and continue on. You sigh, stand up and continue on. You can’t blame your friends for their apathy though, you haven’t actually told them of your discomfort. The problem is that they don’t speak any English… if only you knew how to let them know how you felt… The ability to express basic needs like hunger or thirst is one of the most useful skills you can learn in a new language. Although you may not want to be quite so complaining as Luca, in this lesson, he shows us how to do just that. For more info on Italy and the Italian language, come to ItalianPod101.com!

Have you ever noticed how your Italian speaking friends always speak English to you? You try getting them to speak Italian around you, but things always “default” back to English. Well here’s a tip. The next time you see your Italian friend, hug her, kiss her, and greet her loudly and warmly. In Italian. This will put him in a good mood, and since your first words will be in Italian, she’ll probably use more Italian around you. What’s that? You’re not sure how to greet your friends in Italian? Just a moment, I’ll see if Marco and Cinzia have got a moment to record something… Yes! They are available. They tell me that today’s lesson will be about asking how someone is doing. This will be useful for putting your friend more at ease with using Italian. We’ll be learning about the verb “stare”, which is similar to the English “to be”. For more exciting, fun and easy language Italian lessons drop by ItalianPod101.com! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to press “record” for Cinzia and Marco in the studio. Ciao!
