You are trying to get to know each other better. Your Italian roommate and you have a little over two weeks before you start school at the university and you want to take that time becoming acquainted with each other. You sat up all night for the past two days talking in Italian (she says that will help you practice!) about everything from where you grew up to what Italian food is your favorite. Tonight you are going to talk about your families. You begin by telling her in Italian that your parenti work at a textile fattoria back home where they make beautiful fabbricas. You can tell by the look on your Italian roommates face that she is impressed so far with your Italian language ability! Encouraged to continue, you go on to tell her in Italian that it was because of your parent’s hard work that you were able to attendere the Italian college! Your roommate finally stops you, translates everything you have just told her, and tells you in Italian “attualmente, you need a lot of practice with Italian false friends!” Does this mean she doesn’t like you?

You even tried telling them in Italian, “it’ll be dark in a little bit!” Now, it’s almost 10:00 PM and the only time you stopped was to eat a fabulous Italian lunch and dinner! Now they want to go to an Italian club! Okay, you are just going to have to tell them in Italian, “I am sleepy!” Ooh, you never learned to say, “I am sleepy” in Italian?
