Today we’re taking a tour through the remains of one of the oldest places in Italy. No, we’re not talking about the coliseum. Older than that. No, not the Roman forum. Even older. Let me stop you before you continue guessing: We’re not going to Rome. We’re going to somewhere even older than Rome. Can you guess? We’re going to visit the heartland of the Etruscan empire. Have you heard of them? Well they were running things back before the Romans ever had dreams of conquering Europe, and were still mastering how to catch fish. In this course, we’ll use all Italian blogs to explore the people, places and history of Italy. Today immerse yourself in the Italian language, and learn about Italian history, while learning Italian.

Learn Italian with ItalianPod101.com! Your teacher tells you in Italian, “Today we’re going to study Leonardo da Vinci.” Your teacher continues in Italian, “Most people think da Vinci was merely a talented painter, but he made many other contributions to Italian society as well. He advanced the world’s knowledge of anatomy and science in addition to giving us his art. But before we get to that, we’ll study his artistic accomplishments.” When your teacher puts a slide of the Mona Lisa on the wall, you ask in Italian, “Is that a painting of a man or a woman?” You teacher responds in Italian, “That’s a very perceptive question. Historians are debating whether it depicts a man or a woman today. Most people think it’s a woman, but what do you think?” You tell your teacher in Italian, “I’m not sure…I think it reminds me more of a man, though!”
