Italian: La Macchina di Santa Rosa Eccomi di nuovo qua per farvi scoprire i segreti e gli incanti di Viterbo. Siete pronti ad assistere ad una manifestazione unica al mondo? Se decideste di passare per la mia città, vi consiglio di farlo all’inizio di settembre, quando è possibile assistere al trasporto della Macchina di Santa Rosa, la Santa patrona di Viterbo vissuta nel XIII secolo. Durante i primi giorni di questo mese la città è in continuo fermento per i preparativi della manifestazione più importante dell’anno. Ed è in questo periodo che è possibile capire quanto i viterbesi siano legati alle proprie tradizioni. La Macchina di Santa Rosa consiste in una torre alta circa trenta metri e pesante cinque tonnellate, illuminata da fiaccole e luci elettriche. Mentre in passato venivano impiegati legno, ferro e cartapesta, gli ultimi modelli sono stati costruiti con metalli leggeri e materiali come la vetroresina per rendere il trasporto più sicuro e la Macchina meno pesante. La sera del 3 settembre la Macchina di Santa Rosa viene trasportata a spalla da un centinaio di corpulenti uomini chiamati “facchini”. I “facchini” indossano la tradizionale divisa bianca con una fascia rossa alla vita: il bianco della divisa simboleggia la purezza di spirito della patrona e il rosso della fascia ricorda i cardinali che nel 1258 traslarono il corpo della Santa dalla Chiesa di S. Maria in Poggio al Santuario a lei dedicato. È da questo evento del 1258 che ha origine la manifestazione che si ripete ogni anno. Questa manifestazione impegna i viterbesi ed i facchini per tutta la giornata: la prima tappa si svolge nel Comune della città, dove i facchini si recano per ricevere i saluti delle autorità cittadine, poi vanno in visita alle sette chiese del centro storico ed infine si recano al convento dei Cappucini, dove il capo facchino fornisce le ultime indicazioni sul trasporto. Dal convento parte la processione dei facchini che vengono preceduti da una banda musicale, percorrendo a ritroso il tragitto del trasporto. Giunti alla chiesa di S. Sisto, dove la macchina viene montata, le luci della città vengono spente e si accendono le fiaccole. Il vescovo della città impartisce ad ogni facchino la benedizione dell’“articulo mortis” (nel caso vi siano incidenti durante il percorso). Poi cala il silenzio. Il trasporto inizia con le grida del capo facchino "Sotto col ciuffo e fermi!", "Sollevate e fermi!" e quindi "Per Santa Rosa, avanti!" e inizia il difficile percorso. Il trasporto prevede cinque soste durante le quali i facchini hanno modo di riposarsi per prepararsi al tratto finale che prevede una estenuante corsa della macchina, in una strada in salita, che conduce al santuario di Santa Rosa. Quando la macchina viene posata davanti al santuario, la città intera esplode in un immenso applauso di gioia e non è raro vedere volti commossi. La macchina viene lasciata in esposizione per circa una settimana dopo il suo trasporto ed ogni sera, al tramonto, viene illuminata. Descrivere a parole questo evento non può rendere giustizia alla bellezza e alle emozioni che si provano partecipando di persona. Ma di che cosa si tratta veramente? Molti stranieri che vengono in Italia infatti non hanno questa abitudine nel proprio paese ed hanno qualche difficoltà a capire di che cosa si tratti veramente. È l’usanza di incontrarsi al bar prima di cena, generalmente tra le 18:00 e le 21:00, e consumare cocktail alcolici o analcolici accompagnati da una serie di stuzzichini. Alcune città, come ad esempio Milano o Torino, sono diventate famose per la cultura dell’aperitivo che si trasforma di fatto in una vera e propria cena. Alcuni bar infatti mettono a disposizione dei propri clienti non soltanto le solite tartine, patatine fritte o olive, ma un intero buffet dove si possono assaggiare verdure, primi, secondi e a volte anche dolci. L’aperitivo è diventato così un modo veloce di cenare prima di andare a teatro, cinema o ad un concerto e a prezzi molto bassi. Nella fascia oraria dedicata all’aperitivo infatti si può ordinare un cocktail o un bicchiere di vino a un prezzo che varia dai 5 ai 10 euro e contemporaneamente ci si può servire di tutto quello che è offerto al bancone. Italian La città di Napoli Napoli è una città caotica, anarchica, confusionaria, chiassosa e bellissima, che intimidisce a primo impatto ma che conquista chi si lascia sedurre dal fascino dei suoi vicoli pulsanti di vita e dai suoi scorci sul mare mozzafiato. Narra la leggenda che la sirena Partenope, disperata perché incapace di sedurre Ulisse, trovò la morte sull’isolotto di Megàride, dove in seguito fu costruito Castel dell’Ovo, uno dei monumenti più suggestivi della città. “Neapolis” fu in realtà fondata dai greci nel VII secolo a.C. che costruirono la città in base all’intersecazione di cardini e decumani, ossia di strade che si incrociano in maniera ortogonale. Ancora oggi le strade del centro storico ricalcano questa antica struttura, infatti, ogni volta che per qualche motivo si effettuano degli scavi, risalgono alla luce i resti delle antiche strade. E così, mentre si passeggia per il centro antico si ha la suggestiva sensazione che per metri e metri sotto i nostri piedi si estenda ancora la antica città greca, esattamente sotto la stessa struttura di quella attuale. Nel 328 a.C. Napoli diventa parte dell’impero romano, in seguito si susseguirono secoli e secoli di dominazioni straniere: Bizantini, Normanni, Svevi, Angioini, Aragonesi, che contribuirono tutti a dare alla città il suo carattere così particolare, fatta di vicoli stretti dove si alternano palazzi e chiese di stili ed epoche diverse. Alle bellezze artistiche si aggiungono quelle naturali: Napoli è nota per il suo golfo, che ospita le isole di Ischia, Procida e Capri e per la costiera amalfitana, con le sue terrazze di limoneti e i suoi strapiombi sul mare. In un giro turistico napoletano non può mancare una visita ai quattro castelli della città, ossia il Maschio Angioino, Castel Sant’Elmo, Castel Capuano e il già citato Castel dell’Ovo. Una passeggiata al tramonto sulla riviera di Chiaia, ossia il lungomare che costeggia il golfo è imperdibile, così come una visita alle sue chiese come ad esempio Santa Chiara, con il suo chiostro fiorito, o la Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo, simbolo del lussureggiante Barocco Napoletano. Oggi la città di Napoli conta 2?500?000 abitanti e rappresenta la terza città d’Italia. È una città molto difficile, tristemente conosciuta per le vicende di cronaca nera e per i problemi di amministrazione ma allo stesso tempo è una città unica, di una bellezza così particolare che farà sicuramente innamorare chi prova l’emozione di perdersi nel ventre di Napoli. (Nettezza Urbana), con tuta e scopa regolamentari. Devo avere una gran brutta cera, i barboni che dormono ai Fori di solito li cacciano e basta, altro che elemosina. Vaglielo a spiegare che ho solo avuto un problemino con l’alcol, ieri notte. Nemmeno me lo ricordo come ci sono arrivato qui, e poi, perché complicarsi la giornata dall’inizio: con quest’euro ci faccio colazione, un caffè gentilmente offerto dal comune. Pecunia non olet giusto? Certo, sotto questi mozzichi di colonne, su e giù per questi gradini di soldi ce ne sono passati in quasi mille anni di negotium. Ma forse forse, caro Vespasiano, avevi torto: in fondo più dei marmi dei templi e dei loro dei, più dei nomi degli imperatori e dei rostri, su queste pietre è rimasta la puzza: l’odore di piscio sembra non voler abbandonare queste rovine, come un fantasma o l’eco di una metropoli dell’antichità. Roma è ancora una città stupenda, perché a giugno le notti sono così miti che puoi addormentarti ai Fori in tutta tranquillità, come ai tempi del Marchese del Grillo, senza temere più di tanto, e svegliarti in una mattina dorata tra le colonie di gatti che furono della Magnani. Penso a questo mentre sbadiglio e mi stiro, e che le colonne che ho di fronte, quelle del tempio di Marte Ultore, voluto da Augusto in persona, lui non fece in tempo a vederle ed io invece me le godo. Comincio a camminare verso l’uscita dell’area archeologica, attraverso il foro di Augusto, quello di Cesare, quello di Nerva, scavalco una recinzione e sono su via dei fiori. Respiro un po’ di silenzio qui dove non c’è quasi mai stato. Guardo verso il Tevere che sta laggiù da qualche parte, nascosto dalle case degli uomini, quello era il quartiere più povero di Roma antica, la Suburra. Alla destra c’è il Colosseo, a sinistra piazza Venezia ha sepolto il Foro di Traiano. Mi viene un po’ da ridere: nessuno di questi grandi imperatori pensò mai di distruggere l’opera dei suoi predecessori solo per sostituirla con i propri monumenti, aggiungevano, ampliavano, ma non distruggevano mai qualcosa di utile e bello per puro orgoglio. Il primo a cui venne in mente fu Benito Mussolini, che decise di costruire questa bella striscia di cemento, che oggi porta il nome di via dei Fori Imperiali, proprio in mezzo ai Fori antichi, e non aveva conquistato la Gallia come Cesare, né la Dacia come Traiano, ma il suo piccolo, nuovo, anacronistico, impero coloniale: l’Etiopia, l’Eritrea, la Somalia, la Libia. A pensarci fa un po’ ridere, asfaltare le strade dove per secoli si erano celebrati i trionfi di un impero vero per le parate di uno da operetta. Sbadiglio e rido insieme mentre scuoto la testa. Italian L’agriturismo Se stai pianificando una vacanza in Italia, molto probabilmente conosci già una tipologia di vacanza che ha riscosso molto successo e che é tipicamente italiana: l’agriturismo. Invece di stare in albergo, i turisti possono trascorrere la loro vacanza in bellissime case di campagna. Questo particolare genere di turismo é nato diversi anni fa, quando contadini e piccoli proprietari di aziende agricole offrivano generosamente le loro camere o case a persone provenienti dalle città. A quel tempo, gli ospiti venivano coinvolti nei lavori rurali: si prendevano cura degli animali, collaboravano nella preparazione di prodotti tipici come olio, vino e formaggio. Questo tipo di vacanza ha ottenuto un grande successo e la sua popolarità si é diffusa in tutta Europa a tal punto che ha dovuto innovarsi per rispondere alle esigenze di un nuovo target di turisti. Infatti, se mai ti capiterà di visitare un agriturismo, non troverai una vera casa di campagna, ma, una meravigliosa villa fornita di tutti i comfort necessari. Non ti si chiederà più di collaborare con i contadini, ma ti sarà piuttosto data la possibilità di fare equitazione, giocare a tennis o golf e goderti una meravigliosa piscina. L’agriturismo promuove un tipo diverso di vacanza, lontano dal tran tran delle città e in stretto contatto con la natura. I primi agriturismi sono nati tra dolci colline coltivate, in regioni come la Toscana e l’Umbria, ma ora si possono trovare un po’ dappertutto nel territorio italiano: a volte si trovano a soli pochi chilometri dalla costa o alle porte di famose città d’arte. Sfortunatamente, a causa delle attività ricreazionali promosse per incrementare la domanda turistica, molti paesaggi sono stati rovinati per la costruzione di enormi infrastrutture. Italian Pizziche, tarantelle e tammorriate: i balli popolari sono di nuovo di moda tra i giovani italiani: Negli ultimi tempi si sta diffondendo tra le giovani generazioni italiane un recupero delle danze popolari dell’Italia meridionale, come ad esempio la pizzica, la tarantella e la tammorriata. Queste danze hanno delle origini antichissime, alcune infatti, come ad esempio la pizzica, risalgono addirittura alla Magna Grecia, altre invece, come ad esempio la tarantella, sono di origine araba. In ogni caso le danze popolari dell’Italia meridionale affondano le loro radici nella cultura contadina di questa parte della penisola e sono tutte caratterizzate dall’accompagnamento ritmico di strumenti a percussione. Le pizziche, le tarantelle e le tammorriate rappresentano i tre grandi generi di danze popolari meridionali ma all’interno di questi esistono miriadi di varianti. Esistono infatti danze che sono eseguite da soli uomini, in questo caso si tratta per la maggior parte di danze rituali, guerresche o propiziatorie per la caccia, danze che sono eseguite da sole donne, come ad esempio alcune danze interpretative di avvenimenti quotidiani, e infine danze eseguite da uomini e donne, in questo caso si tratta di danze di corteggiamento, danze magico-religiose ma anche danze propiziatorie per l’agricoltura. Oggi queste danze folkloristiche sono diventate di moda tra i giovani, considerate come segno di riconoscimento e recupero delle proprie radici. Va detto inoltre che la musica di questi balli popolari sta attraendo sempre più esponenti di fama internazionale della world music. Negli ultimi anni poi è stato organizzato un festival di danze e musiche popolari, detto La Notte della Taranta, che si svolge nei vari comuni del Salento e che ha visto la partecipazione di artisti di fama internazionale come Gianna Nannini, Francesco de Gregori, Franco Battiato e non ultimo anche l’ex batterista dei The Police, Stewart Copeland.
