In today’s class we shall be analyzing the passato progressivo (past progressive) tense, considering the contexts which it is usually inserted into. Moreover, we will see how to properly use it in formal narrative texts, particularly in conjunction with the imperfetto tense.

Laura and John call Martina on her cell phone as they just have to break the news that Steve was spotted shopping for rings in a jewelry store with a girl. Will Martina be as shocked as they are?
