Learn Italian with ItalianPod101.com! You’re standing in the elevator in an Italian office building, and you’re confused. You’re pretty sure the person you met while you were out last night told you in Italian to visit her today at work. Last night, she said in Italian, “Come by my office…talk to the receptionist on the thirteenth floor and she’ll point you in my direction.” So far, you’ve looked in every elevator in the building, but you don’t see a button for the thirteenth floor. You wonder whether you misunderstood her Italian, so you go to the security desk and ask in Italian, “My friend told me to visit her on the thirteenth floor, but I don’t see an elevator to take me there.” The security guard tells you in Italian, “That’s because there isn’t a thirteenth floor…we’re a little superstitious. If you have her name, I can tell you where she is.” You respond in Italian, “All I know is Maria.” The guard sighs and tells you in Italian, “That’s probably the most popular name in this building! Sorry.”
