Level: Culture Class

In today’s class we shall continue our series of lessons about Italian proper names. We will analyze the historical origins, former meaning, onomastici and patron saints of Emanuele and Irene, in both their masculine and feminine form. Additionally, we will see two important characters that bore those names: an Italian king deemed to be “the Father of Italy”, the founder of the Italian unitary state, and a talented pop singer. The lesson will be concluded by visual resources in the “Historical and famous characters gallery” section.
