I enjoyed the last few lessons, as they were altogether more like “real” language lessons !
The french equivalent to the first proverb is ” to want butter, and the money to buy butter”. There’s also a less polite version also involving the milk maid…
These proverbs are especially great. Nothing “anchors” idiomatic usage in the ear more than memorized proverbs, poems, sayings, etc.
