Did you pack the sandwich…or the sandwiches? Did you bring the fork…or the forks? Italian people love to pack great food in a basket, gather their family and friends, and head to an Italian park for the afternoon. A picnic in an Italian park can be a great way to meet Italian people and practice communicating in the Italian language. However, there is a big difference between asking for something specific in Italian and English. Sometimes it might be romantic to share utensils. However, do you want to share a fork with fourteen people because you could not effectively communicate in Italian? I’ll eat with my hands…thanks.

Learning Italian with ItalianPod101.com is the most fun and effective way to learn Italian! In this Italian Newbie lesson, you will learn all about how to form Italian plural definite articles. You will also learn about Italian substantive adjectives and more about the Italian love for picnics. Visit ItalianPod101 for other great Italian learning resources!

What animals are you afraid of?
I don’t have a very good understanding with dogs. But there are few animals I just can’t stand.

Hello. I like some animals and currently have a five year old miniature schnauzer named Billie. The show notes with this lesson are from #9 I want to have.

avatar Marco says:

Miniature schnauzer?
How big is he?
And is it true that also for dogs, the smaller they are the faster they age?
What would his age be in human terms?

Sorry about the PDF, it has been fixed.
Have a nice day

I’m very very very very very afraid of Frogs!
I hate them!

avatar Jacqueline says:

Gli scoiattoli sono molto carini !

avatar Marco says:

Well I can understand that frogs are slimy (viscido/i), I also don’t rate them as my favourite animals.
But yes
Gli scoiattoli sono molto carini!

avatar Marco says:

Oh frogs are “rane” in Italian.
Frog is “rana”
So the frogs are slimy is:
Le rane sono viscide.

avatar Jacqueline says:

Frog is Rana in spanish too  .
And if is masculin we call it Sapo.

Speaking about Squirrles :)
Here is a very cute squirrels cartoon in Italian:

avatar Marco says:

We have 2 types of frogs:
“rane” that are the common ones. They are both aquatic and terrestrial, while “rospi” are mostly terrestrial.
Both can be female or male.
Usually “Rospo” is considered male as it is a masculine noun. So we sometimes say “Brutto come un rospo” - As ugly as a toad.

Ciao

avatar Jacqueline says:

In spanish it would be:
Rana => Frog
Sapo => Toad

But in english i always use the word frog to refer to those animals hahaha , i never use the word toad. But in spanish is the opposite, i usuallly say sapo to all those animals instead of rana.

avatar Jacqueline says:

hahahaha” Brutto come un rospo” hahahahaha

Devo imparare questa frase.

avatar Marco says:

È una frase molto utile da usare!

I really don’t like big dogs, unless I play with them and watch them grow, I would be fine.

avatar Jacqueline says:

Cinzia,
The Thanks goes to you, for your wonderful and useful lessons!

Grazie davvero !

Keep up the good work!

avatar Marco says:

Dear April, I have the same feeling about big dogs, I’d love to have one, but I guess I should get a bigger house and also get them as puppies.

Dear Jacqueline,
thank you for the compliments!
