You and your friends walk through the Italian streets. You decide to sit in an Italian sidewalk café for a while to watch the people of Italy as they go about their business. You enjoy hearing the group of people seated next to you speaking noisily in Italian. You realize you understand a lot of their Italian language dialogue! Excitedly, you and your friends lean over to their table and begin communicating in Italian to them. You sit and get to know your new Italian friends, chatting about everything from your careers to where you are from. Everyone is having a fantastic time! Speaking in Italian, you ask the lady sitting across from you if she is married. She answers, but then grows very quiet. The conversation seems to have died a little. Did you say something wrong?

Dear listeners, if it’s not asking too much, I’d like to know your age!

Ciao a tutti!

Although I am a male, I am old enough to know better and wise enough not to answer. Let’s just say you CAN teach an old dog new tricks…or a new language, that is!

Grazie por tutti.

Ed says:

 Marco & Cincia,

Why is it “grazie DI tutto”? Doesn’t “tutti” mean “everything” (plural)? And “di”? Doesn’t that mean “from”?

Please clarify. I’m a bit confused at this point. :???:

Ciao,

Ed

Marco says:

Dear Ed,
“di” means “of” or “from”, for example “Il gatto di Marco” - “Marco’s cat” and “Marco è di Sanremo” - “Marco is from Sanremo”

“tutto” means “all, everything”, while “tutti” means everyone”.
Hope this makes it a little clearer.
Ciao

“Tengo fame” is very similar to spanish. In spanish we say “Tengo hambre”.

Well, we all know how similar these two languages are.

Marco says:

Yes they really are very similar.
Thanks for your comment!

Reviewing! : )

Ora, ho ventisette anni, ma avrò ventotto anni.

avatar
Marco says:

Quand’è il tuo compleanno?

When is your birthday?

avatar
Hyonu says:

Marco :) Il mio compleanno è ventinove de Diciembre. ^^

avatar
Marco says:

Dear Hyonu,
let me correct your spelling a little.

“Il mio compleanno è il ventinove dicembre”

In Italy people born around Christmas time are considered to be slightly unlucky as they only get one big present a year as birthday and Christmas are so close.
